Pilot Mountain is one of the most unique and distinctive natural features of North Carolina. With its unique formation it is easy to understand why the Saura tribe of this region gave it the name of 'Jomeokee' which translates to 'great guide' to help them navigate the area. You can find two of North Carolina's state hiking trails in this State Park including the 'Mountains-to-Sea State Trail' and 'Yadkin River Paddle Trail'.
